The Composition Department aims to provide solid training in the creative, investigative, analytical, and educational aspects of the musical discipline.
Composition at PRCM is sustained by a distinguished faculty of composers who guide and encourage students to complete their creative goals, and to develop their artistic individuality by creating works that explore a broad ambit of media and styles.
Learning outcomes
Implement basic concepts, tools, techniques, and procedures to generate a composition from concept to finished product.
Demonstrate proficiency in working with both electronic and acoustic media.
Creating works with a variety of forms, styles, and notations.
Incorporate principles of scoring appropriate to particular compositions.
