About the concentration in Singing

Voice majors at PRCM study under a renowned faculty with vast experience in performing and teaching voice. Students also have varied opportunities to perform on stage through the annual production of the opera workshop, opera scenes programs, art song recitals, chamber music ensembles, zarzuelas, and Broadway musicals. In addition, students complement their education through language studies (Italian, French and German), body movement lessons, acting lessons, and stage presence activities.

Learning outcomes

The graduate of this specialty:

  • You will demonstrate a high level of proficiency in voice performance.
  • You will apply appropriate foreign languages and diction skills to the performance of solo and ensemble musical styles and literature.
  • You will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the variety of styles of solo and ensemble literature, through performances as a soloist and as a member of musical ensembles.
  • You will apply knowledge about Western music literature and Puerto Rican music within the framework of their cultural sources and influences.
  • He will express coherent criticism and opinions related to the interpretation of his classmates, based on the corresponding periods and musical styles.
  • You will demonstrate leadership and entrepreneurship competencies with regard to professional practices in the field of performance of your instrument.
