Conservatory students who have interrupted their studies for a period of one semester and wish to be readmitted to the institution will have to complete the readmission application on the date stipulated in the calendar and pay the corresponding fees. The Admissions Office will send a response to readmission requests by mail. Late requests will incur an additional charge. To re-enter, you must submit to the registration process for the following semester.
In the case of students who have interrupted their studies for two or more consecutive semesters, they must complete the readmission application on the date stipulated in the academic calendar, take and pass the audition on the instrument. Students requesting readmission to the Baccalaureate in Composition must submit their portfolio of compositions along with the application.
All readmission requests must be made within the residence time of the corresponding degree as established in the catalog. Requests for readmission with a prior balance will not be considered. Students who have been on probation during their last semester of study at the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music will be readmitted in the same status. This could affect your eligibility for financial assistance.
Readmitted students will apply the curriculum established in the Catalog of the academic year of their first admission to the institution. Those who have been inactive for three years or more will be subject to the catalog in force at the time of their readmission. Courses that have been subsequently eliminated from the curriculum will be replaced by courses compatible in content and number of credits of the eliminated course. This evaluation will be the responsibility of the Dean of Academic and Student Affairs who will determine the corresponding course of action. All readmission is subject to the quota in the study of the requested concentration.
Process related to solfeggio exam:
Readmissions for Students Enrolled in Preparatory Courses
Students enrolled in preparatory instrument and/or music theory courses who do not pass one or both courses and request readmission, must audition and/or take the Theory and Dictation placement exam on the new entry exam dates during the second academic year. Both assessments must be passed at the first-year level in order to be readmitted.
Students who withdraw completely while in preparatory instrument and/or music theory courses and request readmission, must audition and take a placement exam for Theory and Dictation on the dates of the new entry exams during the second academic semester. If the student was enrolled only in a preparatory course, he or she would have to take the exam for that course only (the Theory and Dictation exam is only offered in the second semester as part of the new admission process). All exams must be passed at the first-year level in order to be readmitted. Students who interrupt their studies after passing the preparatory music theory course will not have to take the theoretical exam again. No student may be readmitted to the preparatory level of music theory or instrument. Students may be placed in the preparatory level only once.
Readmissions for Graduate Students
Since the maximum residency to complete the Graduate Diploma in Performance is one year, it is not possible to apply for readmission to this program. The student who interrupts his studies and does not complete the degree must apply for admission and audition to start again.
In the case of master's degrees in performance, as well as at the undergraduate level, if the student has interrupted his studies for two or more consecutive semesters, he must take and pass an instrument audition.
