Symphony Orchestra and Concert Band August 2026
To determine your placement in the Symphony Orchestra or Concert Band, *all students of winds, percussion and stringsThey are required to take a comprehensive hearing, according to the established schedule. (see itinerary).
Goals:
♪ To provide the student with the opportunity to practice audition skills.
♪ To provide the student with an additional assessment forum, in which the teacher can more accurately identify the student's progress or shortcomings.
♪ To place the student more precisely within the sets.
The Auditions Committee will be composed of the teaching staff of the CMPR.
The auditions will last approximately seven minutes. After each instrumental audition, the Committee will decide on the ensemble placement and seating. The decision will be based on an evaluation of the student's audition, their participation, and experience in other ensembles at the Conservatory. Director The Orchestra or Band reserves the right to reassign the student to another position on a rotating basis or if the student does not meet the artistic requirements of the assigned part. This may be done at any time during the academic year.

Shifts will be assigned in order of receipt of online registration.
No make-ups will be held for these auditions.
Students who fail to appear for their scheduled audition will be assigned to a musical group at the Committee's discretion.
Audition guides:
♪ Be on time (schedule) for the audition.
♪ Be prepared. Your performance level at the audition will determine your position and seat in the ensemble for the entire academic year.
*Students at the preparatory level of instrument are exempt from auditioning.
