Notes on the beginning of university life

  • Always use the Academic Regulations, in which your rights and duties are clearly specified.
  • Read the syllables of the different courses carefully, they will allow you to know the contents, methodology and the evaluation process, among others.
  • Consult all doubts. Go to your teachers to clarify everything you consider relevant. Ask questions in class.
  • Plan and learn to organize your time. You must take into consideration attendance at classes, daily study, completion of assignments and readings, participation in seminars and/or groups.
  • Try to keep up to date with your courses and work. Calculate approximately two hours of individual work for one hour of class; This way you will be able to keep the course up to date.
  • Use computerized study resources (“softwares”, tutorials, dictionaries, etc.)
  • Visit and use the services offered by the Learning Resource Center
  • If you miss class, ask a classmate for their notes and catch up on the material discussed.

I encourage you to visit the student counseling office so you can share your doubts and concerns about university life. Remember that your student counselor is a professional who has the necessary skills and knowledge to help you through personal, academic and occupational counseling so that you can successfully achieve your educational and musical goals.
