The PRCM has the leading music teacher preparation program in Puerto Rico, offering students opportunities to gain and demonstrate excellence in music teaching skills, critical thinking, and aesthetic judgment, coupled with superior musicianship and performance skills for the solid formation of a performing-educator. The program offers three concentrations: general music education, choral music education, and instrumental music education.
It completes its preparation with a component of professional skills that enables it to practice the teaching profession in three different specialties: instrumental, choral and general education, both at the elementary and secondary levels.
Admission to the university programs of the Conservatory of Music is based on the audition process and/or admission exam determined by each career.
