Documentary Film and Historiography of Puerto Rico and the Americas

Code: CINEMA 3001

This course proposes the analysis of documentary film in Puerto Rico and the Americas from two focuses: the perspectives of historiography and the methodology of historical research applied to this genre. This is with the purpose of identifying the methodology and mechanisms that make this type of cinematographic project legitimate in the construction of historical memory. The course will develop a theoretical platform that serves as a basis for criticizing the documentary sample. The development of film sciences, photography, cinematography and documentary film will be discussed.
