Tite's legacy for composers

On February 5, 2026, the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music hosted the panel discussion: The Legacy of Tite Curet in Composers. The panel, coordinated by the Catalino Tite Curet Committee, the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music, the Faculty of General Studies, the Center for Social Research, and Radio Universidad, brought together a group of academics and musicians to discuss Tite Curet's influence on composers.

According to Dr. Emanuel Dufrasne, Tite Curet's legacy lies in his ability to write songs tailored to singers and to create excellent compositions.
Willy Rosario argued that the legacy Tite Curet left to composers is the need to read, prepare, get to know the singers in depth in terms of styles and concerns, and know the business.
Dr. Chico Benítez, whom Tite Curet mentored, emphasized that beyond the art and technique of composition, he learned from him that one must have the discipline to write every day, a keen sense of observation, and above all, an ethical sense, understanding ethics as standing on the side of social justice.
The event, which had a general audience, was also attended by the beloved [name missing].
Andy Montañez and groups of experts and connoisseurs from the National Foundation for Popular Culture, Radio Universidad de Puerto Rico, and Taller la Goyco all agreed that Tite Curet's legacy is universal and will remain for posterity.
