This seminar-style course introduces the fundamentals of jazz improvisation techniques through both theory and practice. It includes a theoretical analysis of improvisation techniques and their application to instrumental performance. Participants will learn transcriptions of solos by prominent jazz improvisers, along with exercises, drills, and aural examples provided by the instructor. The course also covers the analysis, identification, and application of basic concepts of functional harmony and improvisation techniques within the fundamental progressions of standard jazz repertoire across various styles. Academic degree requirement:
Have completed a Bachelor's Degree in Music, Music Education, equivalent university degree in music or those comparable offered by universities.
