New: Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy

For the first time in Puerto Rico, music has officially become a vehicle for health, well-being, and transformation, providing the opportunity to train professional musicians in the therapeutic use of music to support medical, psychological, and emotional processes through the Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy offered by the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music.
Music therapy, according to the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA), is the clinical application of evidence-based musical interventions, delivered by certified professionals. It is used to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs, positively impacting the quality of life of people of all ages.
Designed to develop well-rounded professionals, this new program prepares students with excellent musical training, clinical training, and practical experience in hospitals, healthcare institutions, specialized schools, and long-term care facilities, among other settings. It also includes a 1,200-hour clinical internship, accompanied by supervised practice and ethically-focused research.
The graduate profile includes instrumental, vocal, and therapeutic mastery, as well as skills to integrate into interdisciplinary healthcare teams and design clinical proposals in diverse settings.
This new baccalaureate is recognized by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) and accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), ensuring international professional and clinical standards.
Admissions are now open for the 2026 academic semester.
