With great satisfaction, we announce the outstanding winners
of the XXV Concert Competition of the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music.
- Sergio Cordero Martínez, a piano student, won the First Prize by masterfully performing
the Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Op. 18 by Sergei Rachmaninoff.
As well-deserved recognition, Sergio will receive the Great CulturArte / Evertec Scholarship. - Adriel Montañez Medina, piano student, won the Second Prize brilliantly
performing the Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor, Op. 37 by Ludwig van Beethoven. - Gerardo Laborde Figueroa, saxophone student, stood out by obtaining Third Prize
with his emotional interpretation of the Fantasia for soprano saxophone, W490 by Heitor Villa-Lobos.
The XXV Concerto Competition had the participation of 10 students from the string departments,
woodwinds, brass winds, piano and singing, who demonstrated their dedication and passion by presenting
their pieces at this event. In addition to the winners, we congratulate all the participants:
Alex Figueroa Torres, Antoine Gratzer Rozwadower, Yey Mulero Rivera, Omar Nival Benjamín,
Michael Santiago Almonte, Angélica Sastre Rivera and Gabriel Tardí Hernández.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all the teachers for their valuable support in the preparation
of the contestants, and in particular to the teachers of the winners: María del Carmen Gil, Diana Figueroa
and Wilfredo Corps. Furthermore, we recognize the work of the jury, whose considered judgment was fundamental
in the selection of the winners: professors Kathleen Jones, Omar Velázquez and Rafael Enrique Irizarry.
The Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music congratulates all participants and winners,
and encourages them to continue cultivating their passion for music and maintaining discipline in their art.
We invite you to participate in the XXVI Concert Competition, which will be held next year in 2024.
