Summary

If the short form in music has been addressed by numerous composers, the topic has hardly been treated from a theoretical or aesthetic angle. This writing has been an opportunity to explore the reasons that lead a composer to tackle a short piece. Like literature, which has cultivated this topic abundantly, I gave myself the task of finding an equivalent in music: of ordering and classifying them in order to identify certain important features in these forms that can be useful for their understanding, appreciation, and perhaps for its eventual realization.
