Remembering Julia de Burgos

In order to publicize the work of outstanding women in the arts, we are publishing a brief biography of some of them in the month of their birth.
On this occasion we will be highlighting the work and life of the Puerto Rican poet Julia de Burgos, who in turn was a critical voice in the fight for women's rights and Puerto Rican identity.

Through her poetry, Julia explored topics such as national identity, colonialism, and the condition of women, becoming a critical voice against social injustice.
From his first works, he was distinguished by his lyrics full of emotions, which not only celebrated love and nature, but also denounced injustices and inequalities.
