She is one of the most exceptional artists of her generation.

Navarro has been commissioned by important soloists such as Elisa Torres, Luis Miguel Rojas and Andrea González Caballero, and some ensembles such as The Catholic University of America Symphony Orchestra, American Harp Society, Coralia de la Universidad de Puerto Rico, Victory Players, The New World Symphony and Boston Opera Collaborative. His piece Celebration for piano trio (2016) was selected by The Arts Club of Washington DC as a commemorative work for its centennial celebration. The work Seers Stellam for choir and orchestra (2016) was premiered at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington DC and televised on the EWTN channel. With this same majestic and colorful work, the composer made her debut with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra, conducted by maestro Roselín Pabón at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum.

His first chamber opera Frenesí (2017) was premiered in Washington DC and then in Puerto Rico.

Navarro was chosen to participate in the Puccini International Opera Composition Course in Lucca, Italy, mentored by composer and conductor Girolamo Deraco. His second chamber opera Redención (2019) premiered at the Puccini Chamber Opera Festival 2021 in Italy. For the own development of What about the cakes? was awarded the Discovery Grant (2020) from Opera America's Opera Grants for Female Composers program. The composer was a finalist in Atlanta Opera's “96-Hour Opera Project” where she premiered Atlanta: 1906 with a libretto by Deborah DEEP Mouton. Currently, the composer is a resident artist at the prestigious American Lyric Theater in New York where she premiered the opera The Magic Cabbage (2022) in collaboration with librettist Joshua Banbury and is developing the opera Working for the Macbeths, with a libretto by Marcus Yi.

Johanny Navarro has a catalog of works rich in variety and deeply rooted in Caribbean musical aesthetics, essentially Puerto Rican musical culture.
