Francisco Joubert, bassoon
Francisco graduated from the Conservatory in 2015 with a Bachelor of Music in Bassoon Performance. He went on to complete a Master of Music degree from the Yale School of Music. He currently serves as Second Bassoonist with the Louisville Orchestra and as Professor of Bassoon at the University of Louisville. Prior to joining the Louisville Orchestra, Francisco was a Bassoon Fellow at the New World Symphony in Miami, Florida, where he had the opportunity to collaborate with renowned artists from around the world, including a performance as soloist for renowned film composer John Williams under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas. In addition to his engagements with the Louisville Orchestra, Francisco has performed with prestigious ensembles such as the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, and the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra, among many others. Francisco has been a strong advocate for music education throughout his career, actively participating in programs such as the National Youth Orchestra (NYO/NYO2) and VIA Academy, teaching masterclasses at universities and events such as MegQuigley, and creating an online platform for Spanish speakers interested in learning bassoon. In addition to his interests in classical music, Francisco has explored other musical genres, expanding the role of the bassoon in music through his online presence as VG Bassoonist. In 2022, Francisco was one of the recipients of Sphinx's MPower Artist Grant and plans to continue inspiring and educating young bassoonists through his online platforms with the help of this grant.
