Competition for Young Pianists-2023

The Young Pianists Competition is open to piano students from 6-18 years old who are residents of Puerto Rico. University students are excluded from the Contest.


Contestants must be of the age established for each category:

Little Pianists:
o Category A- 6-8 years
o Category B- 9-11 years

Young Pianists:
o Category C-12 14 years
o Category D-15-18 years


1. The deadline to apply will be Friday, March 31, 2023.
2. The online application for participation in the Young Pianists Competition will be available at: It must be completed in its entirety. The registration fee is $20.00 non-refundable.
3. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
4. Once the application is completed, a copy of the birth certificate must be sent by email to as evidence of the participant's age, and the corresponding payment of $20.00. You can process this payment in person at the collection window, and then deliver your receipt to the Admissions Office. Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. and 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm If otherwise you wish to send payment to:, you must write to us to send them an authorization sheet with credit card charges.


1. The Young Pianists Competition will take place on May 13, 2023 in person.
2. The jury will be made up of a minimum of three (3) pianists.
3. The members of the jury may not have students participating in the Contest.
4. The teachers of the participants must commit to preparing them and will assign the corresponding repertoire according to the requirements of each category.


1. Submitting the online application for participation constitutes acceptance, by the parent/guardian, of the rules of the Contest. Partial or total non-compliance with some of the rules will result in the participant's disqualification. To access the application please fill it out at the following link:
2. Category that does not have a minimum of three (3) participants will be closed.
3. Contestants who have participated in the Contest in previous years will not be able to repeat the same repertoire.
4. First prize winners will not be able to participate again in the same category. The rule of not repeating the repertoire previously presented also applies.
5. In the event of a tie being declared in the awarding of the prize in a category, said prize will be divided equally.
6. The jury is not obliged to award all prizes. Their decisions will be final and unappealable.


Participants must present the required repertoire as indicated in each category below:

Little pianists:
Category A (6-8 years):
A 3-5 minute program of free selection.
Category B- (9-11 years)
A 6-8 minute program of free selection.

Young pianist:
Category C (12 to 14 years):
to. 2 pieces of classical repertoire of different styles
Category D (15 to 18 years old)
b. 3 pieces of classical repertoire of different styles

Participants in categories C and D must perform all works in their original form and without repetitions. Under no circumstances will arrangements or simplifications be accepted.

It will be a requirement in all categories that the repertoire be played from memory.


Three prizes will be awarded for each category which consist of:


Categories A and B:
First Place: Prize money of $100.00 dollars
Second Place: Prize money of $$75.00
Third Place: Prize money of $50.00 dollars


Category C
First Place: Prize money of $200.00
Second Place: Cash prize of $150.00
Third Place: Prize money of $100.00

Category D
First Place: Cash prize of $300.00
Second Place: Prize money of $200.00
Third Place: Prize money of $125.00
