  1. A major scale and a melodic minor. Both will be performed in three (3) octaves, in ligatures of 2, 4, 6, 8, 12 notes per bow. Metronome: quarter note=56. Preferably in Galamian format
  2. A technique study to choose from: Dont op.37: #1, #2. #3, Kreutzer #6, #8, #9 or #10. More advanced studies by the same or another author will also be acceptable.
  3. The first movement of a concert to choose between:
    • Bach – Concerto in A minor;
    • Accolay – Concerto in A minor;
    • Haydn – Concerto in G major;
    • Viotti – Concerto #23 G major;
    • Viotti – Concerto #22 in A minor;
    • Mozart – Concerto #3 in G major
    • Bruch – Concerto #1 G minor;
    • Mendelssohn – Concerto in E minor. Repertoire of similar difficulty will also be acceptable
    • Sight reading

Viola

      1. A three-octave scale, two to eight notes per bow (quarter notes to sixteenth notes). The arpeggio corresponding to three octaves, linked from three to nine notes per bow (quarter notes to eighth note triplets)
      2. A Kreutzer study (no. 3 onwards), Dont Op.37 or Bruni
      3. Two contrasting movements from a Bach suite
      4. A movement from a concerto from the standard repertoire (with cadenza if it has one)
      5. Sight reading

Cello

  1. Scales: One (1) Major scale and/or one (1) Minor scale in four (4) octaves and arpeggios.
    Scales, 4 and 8 notes per bow. Arpeggios, 3 notes per bow. Preferably in the M. Yampolsky method format.
    However, any other format will be accepted.

  2. Studies: Choose between the following; Duport No. 6, 7, 11. Popper No. 1, 2, 6, 12
  3. Concerts: 1st movement to choose from the following works:
    Ch. Bach (Cassadesus): Concerto in C Minor
    Boccherini: Concerto in B Flat Major (Grützmacher)
    Goltermann: Concerto No. 5, No. 4, No. 3
    J. Haydn: Concerto in C Major, Concerto in D Major
    Klengel: Concertino in C Major
    Lalo: Concerto in D Minor
    Saint-Saëns: Concerto No. 1 in A Minor
  4. * Any other concert of similar level will be allowed

      1. Scales and arpeggios to four octaves.
      2. A repertoire piece* to choose from:
        • Dussek– Sonata in C minor
        • Saint-Saens– Fantasy for Harp op.95
        • Debussy– Premiere Arabesque
      3. A study to choose between the following methods:
        1. Boscha, CNCélebres Etudes pour la Harpe, Cinquante Etudes, op. 34, Vol. 1;
        2. Bach JS /Grandjany, MEtudes for Harp Selected from Bach Sonatas and Partitas for Unaccompanied Violin;
        3. Pozzoli, E. – Studies of moderate difficulty
      4. Free selection work* in contrasting style *The repertoire piece and the free selection work must be performed from memory

IMPORTANT:
Passing the audition does not necessarily guarantee that you will ultimately be admitted. Admission to the Conservatory of Music is subject to the candidate meeting all admission requirements, the required GPA, and the availability of spaces in the requested study program.

A waiting list will be created in the case of those studies where the number of admitted students exceeds the available spaces. If assigned to a waiting list, appointments will be announced via regular mail. Your enrollment is not guaranteed for the academic year in which you applied.

If there are no spaces available in the waiting studio, the student must apply and audition again for the next academic year.
