About El Conservatorio
The institution was created by virtue of Law No. 35 of June 12, 1959 under the artistic and musical leadership of the illustrious Spanish cellist Pablo Casals, who served as a catalyst for personalities and government agencies to undertake the task of create a conservatory on the island. Among the government figures who coined the idea and directed the process were Mr. Ernesto Ramos Antonini, President of the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Puerto Rico at that time, and who was the main manager and creator of the bill that gave origin to the institution. Initially, its purpose would be to train first-rate musicians to nourish the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra, the Casals Festival and train the composers, performers and teachers necessary to support the musical life of the country.
The Conservatory provides the Puerto Rican community, especially youth, with all the necessary opportunities to educate and perfect their musical skills. The academic offer stimulates the comprehensive training of students and promotes the maximum development of their artistic, intellectual and humanistic capacities. The institution promotes the excellence, timeliness and relevance of its academic offerings to maintain quality offerings that meet the educational needs of the musical labor market. In addition to its university programs, the Conservatory offers studies at the pre-university training level for children, young people and adults from the community in general through its Preparatory School.
Puerto Rico today enjoys a dynamic and solid Conservatory; one of the most relevant musical institutions in the university field in the Caribbean and Latin America.
Acerca de El Conservatorio
La institución se creó en virtud de la Ley Núm. 35 del 12 de junio de 1959 bajo el liderazgo artístico y musical del ilustre chelista español don Pablo Casals, quien sirvió de agente catalizador para que personalidades y agencias del gobierno se dieran a la tarea de crear un conservatorio en la isla. Entre las figuras del gobierno que acuñaron la idea y encaminaron el proceso se destacan don Ernesto Ramos Antonini, Presidente de la Cámara de Representantes de la Legislatura de Puerto Rico en aquel entonces, y quien fue el principal gestor y creador del proyecto de ley que dio origen a la institución. Inicialmente su propósito sería capacitar músicos de primer orden para nutrir la Orquesta Sinfónica de Puerto Rico, el Festival Casals y formar los compositores, intérpretes y maestros necesarios para apoyar la vida musical del país.
El Conservatorio provee a la comunidad puertorriqueña, en especial a la juventud, todas las oportunidades necesarias para educar y perfeccionar sus destrezas musicales. La oferta académica estimula la formación integral de los estudiantes y promueve el máximo desarrollo de sus capacidades artísticas, intelectuales y humanísticas. La institución promueve la excelencia, actualidad y relevancia de su oferta a académica para mantener ofrecimientos de calidad que atiendan las necesidades educativas del mercado musical laboral. Además de sus programas universitarios, el Conservatorio ofrece estudios al nivel formativo preuniversitario para niños, jóvenes y adultos de la comunidad en general a través de su Escuela Preparatoria.
Puerto Rico goza hoy día de un Conservatorio, dinámico y sólido; una de las instituciones musicales en el ámbito universitario de mayor relevancia en el Caribe y en Latinoamérica.

Our school maintains a high educational level despite the economic ups and downs it suffers. The Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music is a specialized public university that offers professional programs of excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as services, studies and programs aimed at the community in general.
The Conservatory of Music was founded in 1959. Thanks to the support and determination of important figures of important caliber worldwide and the musical environment of the island, among them: Pablo Casals, founder of El Festival Casals, Amauri Veray, Rafael Aponte Ledeé, among others.
Staying true to this tradition of the teachers who founded our school, we offer only the best quality of music education for our students.
Among our teaching staff, our faculty stands out in all musical aspects from musical direction with Roselín Pabón who has more than 50 years of musical career, through the outstanding Puerto Rican soprano Alba Franco, Dr. Francisco Cabán, violin, Gabriel Rodríguez, bassist and director of the Jazz department to Elías Santos Celpa, director of the Concert Jazz Band, we have the most select of the local and world music scene.

El Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico es una universidad pública especializada que ofrece programas profesionales de excelencia a nivel de pregrado y posgrado, así como servicios, estudios y programas dirigidos a la comunidad en general.
El Conservatorio de Música fue fundado en 1959. Gracias al apoyo y determinación de importantes figuras de importante calibre a nivel mundial y del ambiente musical de la isla, entre ellos. Pablo Casals, fundador de El Festival Casals, Amauri Veray, Rafael Aponte Ledeé, entre otros.

- As an example of this, the filmmaker Sonia Fritz produced a documentary titled «Voices of Passion» describing the career of 5 CMPR graduates who stand out masterfully in European opera.

The online donation process for this event will be carried out through PayPal.
Donors have several alternatives when it comes to donating to CMPR.
- Donations can be general, or designated for a specific purpose.
- A donation can be named after someone, or anonymous.
- Donations can be made in honor or memory of someone.
- General gifts provide flexibility to meet new needs and immediate priority areas of the University.
